Zero Break Games is making two major changes this evening respective to both its public identity and the distribution targets that will be supported following the recent changes in priorities. First off is that the wait is over: the logo redesign process has been completed with community assistance and public input. Replacing the puzzle square in the new logo is a multi-colored broken Z design which plays off of the branding which has been established for game development projects, while the neo-futuristic text for the rest of the logo has been removed in favor of a simple, retro-pixel look that matches up with the blocky pixel-art aesthetic of the broken z. Most tellingly, however, is that the logo is now English-only – the Japanese katakana has been completely retired based on the feedback that was received during the process of designing the replacement logo.
Beyond this aesthetic change, Zero Break Games is also amending its platform support changes. Although the withdrawal from Xbox console development remains in effect, this no longer means that all aspects of Xbox services are as equally impacted. Consequently, Game Pass is now open for consideration as a means of distribution for projects which are developed or published under the Zero Break Games label and Xbox services will continue to be supported as a backend option to support that means of distribution.
These changes are a key part of maintaining relevance in both distribution and identity while minimizing conflict with established marks and entities (including those of direct competitors). In the case of the logo change, the retro pixel-art aesthetic of the new design also symbolizes the goal of Zero Break Games to build its modern-day perspectives around the classic gaming experiences of decades past.
The updated logo has been applied to all of the public-facing media points for Zero Break Games while the necessary updates have been made to the development runtimes that will restore programming support for Xbox services across all current and future projects. Further development provisions and updates will be announced as they become available.
